If you search for any Markus Schulz liveset tracklist in 2011, you will consistently find the name of the latest upcoming talent to make an impact on Coldharbour Recordings, Nijmegen’s Nick van Mansum, known to the world as Aerofoil.
Fusing trance with a tough and tech-filled edge, Aerofoil’s tracks have become the soundtrack to the Global DJ Broadcast World Tour, beginning with the final edition in 2010, where Markus Schulz found himself in Cape Town. The identity remained a secret, but the anticipation built from that late November evening, coming to the fore at the announcement of the Prague ’11 compilation.
Markus’ Big Room Reconstruction of Caress 2 Impress has been tried and tested in every corner of the world since, from Brazil’s Green Valley to the hallmarked Vision in Chicago, and from Space in Miami to A State Of Trance 500 in Den Bosch, the crowd reactions have heralded the track as an anthem in the making.
However, not to be outdone by the leading track, Aerofoil presents an additional two tracks which are causing waves in their own right. No one was happier than Nick himself when he was in attendance on that night in Den Bosch, because not only did he receive the plaudits for Caress 2 Impress, Kerosene made its debut to a worldwide listening audience, with its moody approach also rocking Global DJ Broadcast speakers throughout April and May. Rounding things off is the dark and dirty Vortex; a track which devastated Space in Miami during Winter Music Conference, and the Argentinean faithful at ASOT 500 in Buenos Aires.
What you have accumulated is one of the most impressive debuts by any artist in the history of Coldharbour Recordings, with an EP brimming full of heavy club play towards the summer months.
